Songwriters Challenge

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

One of the parts I really enjoyed from the Grammy 365 event in Philly was the Pitchathon. Music artist were asked to submit music and a panel of experts from different genres, such as gospel, hip hop/r&b, and rock listen and then dissect the music. I attended the hip hop/ r&b panel; Tanesha a burgeoning singer/songwriter I met at lunch had submitted her music. As the panel of music execs played her song "I dont apologize" the room stood silent; her song made the entire room applaud including the panel. Some of the panelist liked her music so much they even wanted to work with her to shop her song.

Tanesha's story inspired many people that day especially me. It inspired me to practice my songwriting more, so I'm starting a 30-day songwriters challenge to beef up my songwriting skills. Each day will be a specific topic/theme and if you would like to participate here is the list of topics. The challenge officially starts May 20.

Share with your friends and see if you can complete themusicdiary 30-day songwriter challenge. Everyday look for reminders on twitter, instagram, and tumblr with the hashtag #tmdchallenge.
