Happy Black Music Month

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Did you know every June is Black Music Month? In 1979, then President Jimmy Carter decided June would be the month to celebrate Black music. Since Obama's presidency he recognizes the celebration as African-American Music Appreciation Month. As we all know plenty of the music that inspires us isn't necessarily from African-Americans, but from people of African descent from all over the world such as: Bob Marley, and Fela Kuti. So no matter what we call it lets inspire others to learn and love the diverse sounds of music from across the globe.
